Q. How long have you worked at Marine Solutions?

4.5 years

Q. What is your role, and what does your job entail?

My title is Senior Hydrographic Surveyor.  Last year I gained the title of Certified Hydrographer through the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). I perform our New York/New Jersey (NY/NJ) hydrographic surveys (single beam, multibeam, topographic land survey style). I am also a dive supervisor, and I am the NY/NJ Shop Manager and perform all maintenance and shop repair.  I am Kirby Morgan certified and perform all the annual maintenance on NY/NJ helmets. I am also on the Safety Task Team and the newly formed Equipment Safety Team.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

I do something different and unique all the time. I am given lots of autonomy, and I'm supplied with the tools to get the job done. I get to drive boats, work on boats, and be in the water.

Q. What three words best describe you?

Thorough, experienced, and willing.

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Rod and reel fishing, spear fishing, traveling (usually with Joyce), working on boats, working on cars (2018 VW SportWagen, 1991 Ford Ranger, 1975 Chevy Camaro), and working on my new home.

Q. If given the chance, who would you like to trade places with for a day?

Jay Cutler, retired NFL Quarterback.

Q. If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?

"Minimalism and Excess: Remarkable Stories of an Extraordinarily Average Man."

Q. What advice do you have for prospective Marine Solutions candidates?

It is all up to you. You can go as far as you are willing to while you work here. You can learn something from EVERYONE here, and don’t forget to take awesome vacations.
