Structural Condition Assessments
USDOT Maritime Administration
Puerto Nuevo and Vieques, Puerto Rico
Following Hurricane Maria in 2018, the Puerto Rico Port Authority identified marine facilities that could be used for immediate and long-term needs for the disaster recovery response. Marine Solutions team performed engineering condition assessments on various waterfront facilities including cargo terminals, ferry terminals, cruise terminals, bulk material handling facilities, and other related marine structures in Puerto Nuevo and Vieques. Condition assessment reports included structural analysis, load restriction recommendations, repair recommendations, cost estimates, and recommendations for resiliency measures. In order to meet a very aggressive project schedule, Marine Solutions fielded multiple inspection teams. All field investigations were completed ahead of schedule and draft reports were submitted within 10 days of completion of the field work.
