Pre-Design Inspection, Pier 40
Hudson River Park Trust New York, NY The Hudson River Park Trust (HRPT) is responsible for the design, construction, and operation of the four-mile Hudson River Park, the largest open space project to undergo construction in Manhattan since the completion of Central Park. Pier 40, one of the most important commercial properties in the park, is home to a commercial parking garage, athletic fields, and the administrative offices of HRPT. With a footprint of 15 acres, it is the largest pier structure on the Hudson River, and in need of critical infrastructure repairs. Over 50 percent of the pier’s piles have either severe or major damage. Marine Solutions performed underwater design level inspections and measurements of 1,000 steel H-piles support the pier. We provided detailed inspection findings to the client for use in developing repair design documents and rough order of magnitude (ROM) costs. Construction of designed repairs began in late spring of 2019. |
