Marine Construction Support Services, Lock and Dam 52 Demolition

Lock and Dam 52 was the 19th lock and dam on the Ohio River. With the completion of the new Olmsted Lock and Dam, Dam 52 is being demolished after 90 years of being in service. Marine Solutions is providing underwater support the removal of existing lock chamber cells (up to 10,000 liner feet of sheet pile), piers, 1,200 timber piles, three bear traps, fixed weirs, and 487 timber wicket gates. The on-site crew currently consists of two to four 4- to 6-person dive crews working from a dive barge around the clock. The project is expected to take two years to complete.
